Women's Track & Field Moves up 31 Spots in Latest Poll

The UW-Eau Claire women's outdoor track & field team jumped significantly in the week six USTFCCCA top 25 poll.

The Blugolds had been at No. 40, outside of last week's poll, but moved up to No. 9 this week after finishing in second place at the WIAC Championship.

In the Midwest regional rankings, the Blugold women are No. 2 while the men are ranked eighth.

In the regional polls, the women are currently seventh while the men are eighth.

Men's Indoor Track & Field Back in Top 25

After dropping out the top 25 last week, the UW-Eau Claire men's indoor track & field team jumped back into this week's USTFCCCA NCAA Division III top 25 national poll.

The Blugolds, who will compete at the NCAA Division III Championships this weekend, are ranked 24th in this week's poll.

Regionally, the men are ranked 7th while the women are fifth.

Men's Indoor Track & Field Drops Slightly in Rankings

The UW-Eau Claire men's indoor track and field team fell three spots to No. 25 in the latest USTFCCCA NCAA Division III top 25 national poll.

The Blugold men, who are ranked sixth regionally, fell only slightly from their No. 22 national ranking a week ago. They were ranked as high as 16th this season.

The women are ranked seventh in the Midwest region as both teams head into the WIAC Championships this weekend.

Cross Country Teams Move Up in National Poll

The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's cross country teams moved up significantly in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) top 35 poll.

The Blugold women jumped up nine spots to No. 5 after winning the NCAA Midwest regional last weekend.

The men moved up 11 spots to No. 21 after taking sixth at the regional.

The women will compete as a team at nationals this weekend while Tom Breitbach will represent the men.

Both UW-Eau Claire cross country teams dropped one spot in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) top 35 poll.

The Blugold women, who won their fourth straight WIAC title last Saturday, are ranked 14th in the nation while the men are 32nd. They were 13th and 31st, respectively, in the previous rankings.

The Blugold women are ranked eighth nationally, dropping from the No. 1 ranking they held since the beginning of the 2010 season. They are also ranked third in the Midwest region.

The men made a significant jump, to go from being unranked last week to being ranked 20th nationally this week. The Blugolds are also eighth in the Midwest region.

Women's Cross Country No. 1 in Latest Poll

The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team remained No. 1 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) top 35 poll.

The Blugold women are also ranked No. 1 in the midwest region while the men are 10th in the most recent regional rankings.

Both teams will compete again this Friday at the St. Mary's Invitational and Saturday at the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invite.

Cross Country Maintains Rankings in Week 1 Poll

The UW-Eau Claire women's and men's cross country teams' ranking in the week one Division III national coaches’ poll as sponsored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) remained unchanged from the preseason poll.

The Blugold women are ranked first in the top 35 poll while the men received votes.

Women’s Cross Country Opens Season Ranked No. 1 in Nation

NEW ORLEANS – Cross country squads at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., and at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire have a reason to smile on this Wednesday as they are the top-ranked teams in the nation according to the Division III national coaches’ poll as sponsored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The men’s teams of WASHU finished seventh in the nation a year ago and are closely trailed by second-ranked and defending national champs, North Central (Ill.). The women of UW Eau Claire won their first national title last fall with a nine-point victory over No. 2 St. Lawrence and enter the 2010 season as favorites to repeat.

The Blugold men also received votes in the national poll.

Cross Country Teams Regionally Ranked

Heading into the 2010 season, both the men's and women's cross country teams are regionally ranked, according to the preseason U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings.

The women are at the top of the Midwest region. Washington-St. Louis was second while four other WIAC schools appeared in the top 10. The Blugolds captured the Division III national title last year.

The men are tied for 10th in the Midwest region with Chicago and Illinois Wesleyan. The Blugolds took 16th place at the national meet a season ago. Washington-St. Louis leads the region.
