Men's Hockey Headed to NCAA Championship Ranked Fourth

The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team is ranked fourth in both the D3hockey.com and USCHO.com Top 15 polls, announced March 4.

The Blugolds were second in both polls last week but dropped two spots after falling to St. Norbert College in the NCHA Peters Cup Final last weekend.

Eau Claire earned an at-large bid to compete in the 2013 NCAA Championship for the first time since 1989. The Blugolds will kickoff tournament play against Saint John's University (Minn.) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. when they host the Johnnies at Hobbs Ice Center.

  4. Hello. As they say, real men play hockey! For more than 100 years, people have been playing this wonderful game.
Recently I need someone to do my homework, and we wrote an essay dedicated to hockey. And I learned a lot of interesting facts about this game.
There are three versions of the origin of the word "Hockey". The first says that the word went from the word "Hawky", which meant a harvest festival, after which it was decided to play the team game with curved sticks. Another version says that hockey "went" from the Indian word "Hogi", as the Indians under this name meant a similar game. The most common version says that the word "Hockey" came from the French word "hoquet", which translates as "shepherd's staff".
The world's first hockey match was held March 3, 1875 in Montreal (Canada) and until 1904 the hockey team consisted of nine people, and now of six. And the first 4 years (1875-1879) for playing hockey used a wooden washer. The bill of 5 Canadian dollars shows a game of hockey.
