Volleyball Drops One Spot in National Poll

After seven straight weeks behind ranked 16th, the Blugolds dropped one spot to No. 17 in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association top 25 poll.

The Blugolds, who were WIAC co-champions, took second place in the WIAC Tournament last weekend and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships. The Blugolds will travel to St. Thomas (Minn.) for an eight-team regional which will be contested Friday-Sunday.

  1. Its interesting to see how the team only dropped one spot in the national poll, because that can sometimes happen even when a team is still playing strong and improving each match. Rankings can shift based on small details like opponent strength or timing in the season, so it doesn’t necessarily reflect a loss in quality. What matters most is how the players continue working together, staying confident, and keeping their momentum going forward, especially as the competition gets tougher and the travel arrangements become more frequent later in the season. I’m curious, do you think this slight ranking change will motivate the team even more, or do they seem comfortable knowing their performance still speaks for itself?
