Blugold Men’s Hockey No. 3 in Two National Polls

The UW-Eau Claire men’s hockey team is ranked third in two nationals, which were announced Nov. 26.

The Blugolds are third in both the D3hockey.com and USCHO.com Top 15 rankings, the highest ranking the team has ever received in the history of the polls.

Additionally, Eau Claire earned one first place vote in each of the polls.

The Blugolds are off to a 9-0-1 start, their best start to the season ever and the longest unbeaten streak in school history.

The team hosts UW-Stevens Point at Hobbs Ice Center for two games this weekend, at 7 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.

Blugold Men's Hockey Jumps in Latest National Polls

The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team has reached its highest ranking ever in both the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com Top 15 polls.

In the Nov. 19 USCHO.com poll, the Blugolds are ranked fourth, moving up from No. 8 last week, which was previously the Blugolds' highest ranking ever. Out of 237 USCHO.com polls going back to 1997, the Blugolds have only been ranked in the top 10 five times including the past two weeks. On Nov. 17, 2008, Eau Claire was No. 9 while being No. 10 on Nov. 24 and Dec. 1, 2008.

In the Nov. 19 D3hockey.com poll, the Blugolds are No. 3, the highest ever in the poll which started last season. Eau Claire's previous best ranking was No. 12 on both Jan. 9 and Jan. 23, 2012. Eau Claire also received one first place vote in the latest poll.

This season, the Blugolds are currently 7-0-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the NCHA, in first place. It's the first time since 1982 the Blugolds have not lost a game over their first eight contests.

The Blugolds are coming off a weekend series at St. Norbert, which was ranked No. 3 at the time. The Blugolds won 5-3 the first night and tied 3-3 the second night. It was the first time since 1995 St. Norbert didn't get at least one win against Eau Claire in the back-to-back series.

Coming up this weekend, the Blugolds will host Concordia University (Wis.) both Saturday and Sunday at Hobbs Ice Center. Saturday's game is slated for 7 p.m. while Sunday's game, which is Youth Day, will begin at 2 p.m. After the game, children can skate with the team.

Blugold Cross Country Teams Ranked High Headed into Nationals

With the 2012 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships set to be contested Saturday (Nov. 17), the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its final poll of the regular season.

The national top 35 poll found the Blugold women ranked No. 7, up from No. 11, while the men are ranked 14th.

Rose-Hulman will host nationals at the LaVerne Gibson Cross Country Course outside of Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday. The men’s 8k race is slated for 11 a.m., eastern, while the women’s 6k will go off at Noon, eastern. NCAA.com will broadcast the national championships live.

Men's Hockey Up to No. 8 in USCHO.com Poll

The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team moved up to No. 8, from No. 11, in the Nov. 12 USCHO.com Top 15 poll.

Additionally, the Blugolds received one first place vote.

Eau Claire is off to a 6-0 start this season, its best start since 2008.

The Blugolds will be at third-ranked St. Norbert College this weekend for a two-game series.

Men's Hockey Moves up in USCHO.com Rankings

The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team moved up to No. 11 in the latest USCHO.com Top 15 poll, announced Monday.

A week ago, the Blugolds were ranked No. 15 but after winning two games this weekend to improve to 4-0 on the season, they jumped four spots.

Eau Claire is off to its best start since the 2008-09 season when they went 6-0 before losing their first game.

Blugold Men's Hockey Ranked No. 15 in USCHO.com Poll

The UW-Eau Claire men's hockey team is ranked 15th in the latest USCHO.com Division III Top 15 national poll, announced Oct. 29.

The Blugolds hold a 2-0 record to start the season after beating UW-Stout on Oct. 26 and 27.

Eau Claire will now be on the road for six straight games, beginning with two non-conference games this weekend.

Blugold Cross Country Teams Rank High After WIAC Championships

A week after the 2012 WIAC Championships, the UW-Eau Claire cross country teams are still ranked high in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Top 35 poll.

The Blugold men moved up one spot to No. 7 after taking second at the WIAC Championship, their best finish since 1989.

The Blugold women dropped one spot to No. 11 after winning their sixth traight WIAC title.

In the region, the men are third and the women are second.
